Reports are coming in that London underground services have been delayed due to a man armed with a large ‘samurai sword’ spotted on a train
Armed police were called to West Ham station causing major delays on the District Line between Barking and Upminster.
One commuter tweeted: “Told to get off platform by police while they investigate. No eastbound service. They’re looking for the man.”
The police have not found the armed man.
A spokesman for the British Transport Police said: “Officers from British Transport Police have been called to West Ham station this afternoon after reports of a man in possession of a bladed article.
“The report was made by a member of the public on board a District Line train heading eastbound.
“Specialist BTP officers, including firearms officers, attended West Ham and Bromley by Bow stations to conduct an area search. No one has yet been traced and enquiries are on-going.
“This incident is not believed to be terror related.”
