Diane Abbott accused of ‘stampeding over bodies of victims’ for political points

Diane Abbott has been accused of using the deaths of Grenfell victims to gain political points

Shadow Home Secretary Diane Abbott provoked fury yesterday when she claimed hundreds had died in the Grenfell Tower tragedy, even though the official death toll stands at 79.

During her outburst Ms Abbott wrongly called the tower block Grenfell House and claimed it was 23 storeys tall.

She said: “Grenfell House is not just an accident, Grenfell House is not just an unfortunate incident.

“Those hundreds of people died as a direct consequence of Tory attitudes in social housing. The Tories think people in social housing are second-class citizens.

“And, as we have seen from Grenfell House, they are offering them second-class standards of safety.”

Speaking after the event, Ms Abbott said: “I think we are going to find that the numbers of people that have died will be in triple figures, just because it’s a 23-storey block.”

Tory MP Andrew Bridgen said: “Diane Abbott has joined the Leftwing stampede over the bodies of Grenfell victims to make their political points.

“As we know, facts and figures and being across her brief is not Diane’s strong points. “But it doesn’t matter because the hard-Left are never interested in facts anyway. She’s a disgrace.”

Diane Abbott has been under mass controversy after the recent tragic events.

She seems to refuse to call the London terror attacks ‘terror attacks’, but instead calls them ‘incidents’, however, when the Finsbury Park mosque was attacked she was quick to jump to action calling it a ‘terror attack’ at 6am on Twitter.

Do you think she is political point scoring or genuinely upset for the victims?
