Labour MP, Chuka Umunna was the brunt of a joke by Tory MP today while speaking on BBC Radio 2.
Speaking on BBC Radio 2, Mr Fabricant said: “The problem is, you’re going to have Chuka Umunna on saying what he usually says, I’m sure, saying ‘oh, the British people didn’t know what they were voting for. They didn’t realise.’
“Chuka, Chuka, people don’t realise that when they were voting to leave the European Union what they’d be doing is leaving the European Union.”
“What they were voting for was independence from Brussels and that I am afraid does mean not being in the customs union. But it doesn’t mean what we all want.
“We all want frictionless trade. Tariff-free trade, like some other countries, have got, with the EU even if they’re not in the customs union.”
The Labour MP is strongly against Brexit and adamant that the British people did not know what we were voting for.
A No 10 source said on Sunday night: “It is not our policy to be in the customs union.”
Chuka Umunna caught lying to Labour supporters over Brexit Bill
Labour MP, Chuka Umunna has been accused of lying to his supporters over the government’s position on the Brexit Bill.
An email sent by Chuka to his supporters said that “Boris Johnson, the Foreign Secretary, said that the Government wouldn’t pay a penny in a divorce settlement – Europe could go and whistle”
This was not the case.
Mr Johnson was simply implying that the extortionate sum the EU was initially demanding deserved the ‘go whistle’ response.
Remoaners are unable to understand the difference.
The Foreign Secretary said: “the sums that I have seen that they propose to demand from this country seem to me to be extortionate, and I think that to “go whistle” is an entirely appropriate expression”.
Boris has also been on record saying: “Of course we will meet our obligations. We are law-abiding, bill-paying people. We certainly have to meet our obligations”
It certainly seems that Chuka has been caught red-handed.
