Van driver TAUNTS angry crowd ‘Come On!’ after using van to attack worshippers

It’s been reported that the van driver who ploughed into several Muslims outside Finsbury Mosque taunted the angry crowd

Video footage shows an angry crowd restraining the van driver moments after he used a van to mow down several people.

The suspect seemingly goads the crowd, yelling back: “Come on!”

Officers shout, “Move back, move back”, as they try to push people away and get the scene under control.

Police say a 48-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

1 person has died with 9 others injured.

Imam Mohammed Mahmoud attempted to protect the man from the angry crowd.

He said:

“‘The deceased had collapsed and people came to tend to him, they brought him a chair.

‘As he regained consciousness, the van drove perpendicular to seven sisters road, he drove at a 90 degree angle to the direction of the road – it was enough to make some people fly off under the side.

‘He dragged two people underneath him, one said they were worried he might be paralysed because he could not feel his arms and legs’.

He added: ‘We found the assailant on the floor. He had been restrained by about three people. The injured and the deceased’s brother were being tended to.

‘We found a group of people quickly started to collect around the assailant.

‘Some tried to hit and punch and kick him. By God’s grace, we managed to surround him and protect him from any harm.'”

Another witness, Hussain Ali, 28, said that while being restrained the suspect was protected by the people he is thought to have been targeting.

He said: “The leader of the mosque said ‘You do not touch him.’ He was sitting and holding him like that, people kept holding him.”
