The Scottish Conservative leader launched an extraordinary assault on Nicola Sturgeon’s integrity during a fiery session in the Scottish parliament
Ruth Davidson and Nicola Sturgeon went head to head once again during a furious battle in the Scottish parliament.
Davidson questioned Sturgeon’s truthfulness in a blistering speech.
Ms Davidson said: “I think we just heard what the chamber made of that answer. Presiding Officer, there is a reason why I’m raising this again today because there is a principle at stake about the conduct of ministers in this parliament and about the transparency of this government.
“I asked the First Minister a simple question in this chamber last week, and she refused to tell this parliament what she knew to be the truth.
“Let me read out what the ministerial code of conduct for the First Minister, it says ‘It is of paramount importance that ministers give accurate and truthful information to the parliament, correcting any inadvertent error at the earliest opportunity.’
“Accurate and truthful! Does she think that her conduct and the conduct of her ministers on this matter in the last two weeks has met that standard?”
Ms Sturgeon offered a simple “Yes, I do” in response as Ms Davidson received a rapturous round of applause from the Tory benches.
The SNP leader added: ”
We’ve put in place a system of loans for farmers, so those who are eligible for pillar one payments actually got 80 percent of all the money they were due.”
Ms Sturgeon concluded: “We’ll get on with the job while we leave Ruth Davidson to keep playing politics.”
The Tories stole 14 seats from the SNP in the snap election, clearly showing that public opinion for a second independence referendum simply is not there.
